It was an electric Fall sports season in Burlingame. Burlingame High's exciting win over San Mateo High in the 72nd Annual Little Big Game was the high profile victory.
Among the younger kids, the Black Magic under-10 Boys AYSO Soccer Team won the Burlingame Cup over the Silver Bullets. The Silver Bullets were lead by Peter Pappageorge. After two first-half scores by the Black Magic it turned into a defensive battle that was controlled by Black Magic center halfback, Kenny Diekroeger, who helped cement the shutout. The Black Magic were coached by Bill Lindsell and Ken Diekroeger.
In the Burlingame Elementary Flag Football League, the Washington School Wildcats came up big in the playoffs. After a successful 2-1 regular season, the Wildcats came back from a 20-0 deficit against Lincoln-1 to win their first playoff game. Successive wins against McKinley and Lincoln-2 clinched the City Championship. The Wildcats were coached by Ray Jones and Pat Donahue. Dexter Assaf was named MVP for the season. Watch for him in the 78th Little Big Game in 2007.
