Paloma Ave

I see that our city will be hosting a Multicultural Event on September 4th.

Is there an implication here that our city events were not open to all cultures in the past?

Apparently Burlingame Avenue is blocked from Primrose east to Lorton for a couple of weeks. Will businesses have greater sales with the street closed or might they prefer customers having easier access with on-street parking?

Would anyone care to guess which merchant made The Phone Call to City Hall?

Burlingame Avenue Reopened to Vehicles on August 23, 2023

In yesterday's special edition on the eNews, the City stated that Burlingame Avenue, from Primrose Road to Lorton Avenue, would be closed to cars through September 4 (Labor Day)

After the City received feedback from residents and local businesses, and foot traffic was lower than anticipated, the City has decided to reopen all of Burlingame Avenue to vehicles.

The planned two-week closure was a pilot program authorized by the City Council to create a community space on Burlingame Avenue and increase pedestrian traffic to surrounding businesses. Unfortunately, the pilot program did not have the desired effects. If the City attempts to close any portion of Burlingame Avenue in the future, the City will apply lessons learned from this year's program.

While Burlingame Avenue will be open to vehicles, a small portion of Park Road will remain closed for various performances through September 4, 2023.

Dave Mendell from Kern's sounds like he may have made a phone call.

I always cringe when someone says "we take full responsibility".
