Let's face it. There is no reason the main library hasn't reopened. It would be so easy to limit entrance to 20 or 30 people at a time. I've been in multiple B'game retail businesses that are way more space limited than the main library without issue. I get it with the Easton addition branch for now, but the main library should reopen. Are all of the staff still being paid?

Cassandra

If you’re being paid, you don’t care about the shutdown: unions, government, movie stars...

The heat from two days ago has dissipated, but today is the most unusual, freakish weather day in my 29 years in B'game. At 3pm it is dark enough to feel like 3am and for the street lights to be on. It's like a day long eclipse. The sky looks like U2's Under a Blood Red Sky album cover. The combination of clouds and heavy smoke gives town an End Of Days feel.

Time for me to repent.
Well, every day come to think of it...

lets call a spade a spade. Anyone who needs to go to a "Cooling Center" is Homeless.

What's with the "scare quotes," Holly?

Cooling Centers are for any person without the luxury of central air who may be negatively impacted by extreme heat, homeless or not. Worsening heat waves are here to stay, so better get used to the idea that people will need to seek relief.

This was good reading. Thank you, Russ.
