Ignore the i_____t. He's just another wannabe Burlingamer who wants someone else to subsidize his life.

I agree with PG, fun article, Joe!

Made my way to the Little Big Game on Sat and I must say it had a small town feel to it, that it seemed to be lacking in past years. Placed was packed(read an estimated 5k),good competitive game to watch, cheer and dance squads were great, the fans and student bodies were great too. Good to see a friendly rivalry continue, especially this day in age when history seems to be forgotten so easily.

Anson Burlingame never traveled through Council City or Burlingame. The speech and dispute both happened in Washington DC. Philip Schuyler and James Stewart heard of the incident and proposed the name change in 1857. It became official in 1858. Council City was never a coal mining town. It only existed from 1854 - 1858 and during that time they had no industry except for Shuyler's steam mill. Coal was discovered much later.
