It couldn't look any cheaper than the apartments sprouting up all around us. Burlingame seems to be turning into a cheap unattractive apartment Haven.

Bruce Dickinson

Well folks, if you want preservation, Bruce Dickinson says you gotta hold Burlingame's City Council's feet to the fire to get to really start aggressively representing your views!

Having said that, notwithstanding the cheaper multi-family housing, Burlingame is far, far, far, far, far better place to live than any other city allowing for mixed use zoning on the Peninsula.

The SF Examiner website is a mess and their search function is even worse, so I'll just summarize the piece in today's paper which rehashes a presentation to the JPB on May 2nd. Their internal survey shows some support for either an 1/8th or 1/4th cent tax to their Business Plan for growth and, gotta love this, "to define needed new stations". They don't find much difference in support for the two levels of taxation, but the difference is about $100M per year in tax revenue.

Here's a thought- since the Gavinor is putting together a $216 BILLION dollar state budget, how about just funding the good train and killing the bad train. No need for more taxes, just common sense. And keep the mission creep to a minimum.

And here is the link to the DJ article on the same thing-- Caltrain must have put out a press release:

Jennifer Pfaff

Jim Hartnett: $543,792 total compensation-- Seriously?

All relative. Here’s how much Burlingame’s civil servants get paid.

One paid over $300K. Over 20 paid >$200K. Back in 2016!
