I like getting tips and pointers from regular Voice readers. I've gotten three in the last two days including one about our mail delivery here in B'game. According to Wikipedia, the unoffical motto of the US Postal Service
The inspiring words "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds" - while by no means an official creed or motto of the United States Postal Service - have long been associated with the American postman. The motto is inscribed on New York's James Farley Post Office, but it has no official status.
That "gloom of night" bit seems very appropriate since our local tipster reports that he is regularly getting his mail delivered after 10 PM! While that might seem meritorious on the part of the postman, I would be more worried about leaving mail outside overnight. The USPS cut the price of a forever stamp at the beginning of the year by .02 but maybe it should have stayed at .49 and we hire another carrier or two to keep deliveries in daylight or close to it. Change your clocks tonight!
Well, obviously they are busy, now, thanks to Amazon, etc. Too bad the uptick didn't happen 3 or so years ago-- maybe then we'd still have our Park Rd. Post Office, and no fence. For a number of years, we'd been told the US postal service was bleeding money, and had to sell off real estate.

Didn't get our mail for two days.
The substitute mail carrier stopped at some construction on the street and didn't think about going around the block to work from the other end- or get out of the truck and walk the route for a half mile...

We never know when to expect the mail. We also have no clue who delivers our mail, as it does not seem there is really a regular carrier. Halloween mail arrived after we shut off the outside light at 9. I am not keen on anyone traipsing around in the dark trying to deliver mail. It is not safe.

Me thinks it is the massive amounts of election material that is contributing to the slowdown. Plus all the catalogs for the holidays.
Hopefully, some of this will end after Election Day.
That + all the robo calls I've received from Bernie! Donald, Hillary and our Governor Jerry Brown.

There's something wrong. These folks can't be working 12 hour days. I hope they get paid by the job and not hourly...

There is a big We Are Hiring sign hanging on the side of the Millbrae post office. I always thought being a mail carrier would be a pretty cool job and healthy too.

My mail arrived at 9:45 tonight. I'm glad I left the porch light on for the mail man. Something is not right about all this.
