Bruce Dickinson

Bait cast, fish biting. Bruce Dickinson won't go into the gory details of David Geffen, particularly his feud with Michael Ovitz of flash-in-the-pan talent-agency-cum-movie studio fame, who basically blamed Geffen for leading the "Gay Mafia" (Ovitz' terminology) that was intent on putting Ovitz out of business in this grand conspiracy theory. Problem is, Ovitz blamed everyone but himself for his failed business model and of course Geffen did some not-so-very nice things to get ahead, including complete outright fabrication of his credentials at the very beginning (his infamous mailroom-boy 'interception') and pooping on competitors as his career progressed, but as they say, when in the tank, you gotta be able to swim with the sharks and he was the one that was eating all the other fish. Geffen's success in Music & Movies pretty much speaks for itself, though again, he wasn't an honest broker throughout the way. Today he is a huge donor to the LA medical and arts community, believe me Columbia/CBS had a really hard time competing with him and he took away some of our great bands with almost as great producers. A worthy foe, as it were, and it earned him billions in his creating companies amid cutthroat competition. Maybe the guilt got to him and caused him to want to donate most of what he had. Bruce Dickinson, while a success in my own right, is not in the 9 zeroes club, but I can say that the zeroes that I got were made the old fashioned way: I earned it fair and square! A good conscience amid success is a rare combination, if I may say so myself!

Out of state tuition for UC Schools is more than 3x that of in-state, so naturally amid budget cuts, the way to fill the gap is to charge more for in-state and to charge even more for-out-of-state and international students. So guess what, to recruit those that will fill the funding gap, you advertise out-of-state. You tax dollars at work my friends, at the expense of California HS students who are crowded out of their own local schools and forced to go to school (and probably work) elsewhere. Of course, we have much better things planned for the betterment of society like a 100 billion dollar Mystery-Train. Elvis has left the building, ya know what I mean?

Maybe David Geffen should donate to the entire UC system instead of just UCLA Med School!
