It seems like we just finished the Peninsula Ave. overpass project and the City of San Mateo is already looking at changes there. If you live nearby, you will probably want to go to the meeting in San Mateo where
Staff will provide graphical illustrations of these two remaining options which are either installation of a median on Poplar Avenue or southbound ramps at Peninsula Avenue.
Details: Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at the Main Library, 55 West 3rd Avenue
Registration: 5:30pm – 6pm Workshop: 6 ‐7:30pm
If it's not one thing, it's another..................

If you want to keep sales tax receipts up and finally get a development at the old drive-ins site (as well as the surrounding area), Burlingame will throw their support behind a Peninsula Avenue southbound 101 off-ramp. The amount of sales tax revenue that is generated from persons living north of Burlingame is highly significant.

Is there a way to do this without affecting the surrounding neighborhood??

The last proposal I know of required the elimination of two or three parking spaces only. But that was word of mouth, I did not see the plans.

From the e-newsletter:
COUNCIL TO REVIEW 101/POPLAR INTERCHANGE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
The Burlingame City Council will be reviewing options for the U.S. 101/Poplar Avenue Interchange Safety Improvement Project at the next regular Council meeting, Monday, Mar 5th at 7pm. The public is invited to attend and provide comments.
We will have to see if it really is an "improvement".

One thing is right, the median is just a band-aid until the eventual solution at Peninsula becomes a reality.
