Since I live within 500 feet of the new Safeway site, I get the official notices on what's up there. Yesterday's mail brought news that Safeway has applied for a Type 86 "Instructional Tasting License" from the ABC. BevMo! has one already and I hear Prestige on the Avenew is applying for one as well---competition is heating up.

Burlingame held up Safeway for over ten years. Millbrae will hold up Safeway for as long as it takes to conduct a mail-only election. No comparison.

Not hardly. Only one of the two labor union lovers could win which still leaves one in Millbrae to hold up Safeway. I do like your choice of verb though :-)
