The Daily Journal is reporting that
Top officials in San Mateo are giving up some benefits in an effort to curb the city’s escalating pension and health insurance costs.
The city manager, police and fire chiefs and other top officials have agreed to pay a portion of their own retirement pension and health insurance benefit costs to save the city roughly $160,000 a year.
We've looked at this from a global perspective here and you can work your way back with the embedded links for more detail.
How can any one "line worker" not see the BS in this news event?
When you are upper management taking in $2-300,000.00 a year plus a city vehicle-(gas insurance) expense account, plus other buried perks; it is impossible to think that this news event is anything other than total BS.

"At what Cost Housing?"
I would like to add that being a Community Newspaper-Free, it is imperative that the Newspaper present it's financial base and politics.
Otherwise, people unable to sort the wheat from chaff are not able to come to conclusions that are the best for their best interests.
