Kudos going out to the wrestling coaches at Burlingame High. Wrestling isn't one of the high-profile sports at BHS, but the dedicated staff convinced the Peninsula Athletic League (PAL) that they could host the championship tournament this year. A successful Christmas tournament last year was proof.
Today's 13 hour affair with ten teams was a great success. PAL powers South City and Half Moon Bay vied for the overall trophy, but the real winners were the kids who have stepped up to a sport that builds character and mental toughness like few others.
I concur! I saw the BHS coaches setting up last night in the small gym while the basketball game was going on in the big gym. I do not think that a lot of people know how hard high school coaches work for a pittance in pay. I was at the school this morning and the wrestling competition was in full force--totally organized and running in the two gyms. Congrats to all of the people who worked very hard to host PAL wrestling!

Another year has slipped by, but the BHS Panthers are doing well this year. Here is a message and a request from the wrestling coaches:
We would like to invite you all to a night of wrestling at BHS. Our first night will be on Tuesday February 7th at 6pm vs Aragon. Our second and final dual meet of the year will be on Thursday February 9th vs Capuchino. That night will also be senior night.
The team is currently 3-1, a win over Aragon on Tuesday would put us into first place. A victory over Capuchino would secure Burlingame a league title. Both matches are at home, and both will be FREE admission.
Our goal is to pack the house. We would love to see the community get behind our team. So please pass the word to any and all wrestling
fans, kids, family members, and friends. We will be wrestling in the BIG gym, under the spot light. The coaches would like to see 200 fans cheering our team on. So please
pass the word. If you are in the club please wear your Panther wrestling gear. And if you have a BHS wrestling shirt or sweat shirt, please wear it to the matches. It would be great
to see you all there.
