Yesterday, the Pet Food Express store held its Grand Opening at the Blockbuster location (or the Rorke's location for you old timers or next to the original City Hall location for you really, really old timers). It was truly a grand event with Diane Dwyer of KNTV, Ivan the BPD K-9, and Tillman the world-famous skateboarding dog all present.
I tried out the do-it-yourself dog washing stations which will compete with Scrub-a-Pup in San Mateo and wandered the aisles full of all sorts of dog and cat accoutrements. Total fun. Here's a great shot of Tillman doing his thing courtesy of Mark Rogers Photography who was on hand to capture the day for the store's advertising. Thanks for sharing, Mark.
If Tillman runs for Council I will vote for him! Great photo of him mastering the skateboard. He also snowboards. Great job for the grand opening of Petfood Express.

I don't think he snowboards. His paws don't turn that way but he sure has mastered the skateboard. If it wasn't going fast enough for him he would drop his back legs off and speed it up. Just amazing.

Is he the store pet, or does he belong to someone (in Burlingame)? Sorry I missed him, 'looks amazing.
By the way, this store will "beat" any price on any item, including that of large discounters PetClub, etc.

Tillman was the guest of honor. He has his own website. He skateboards, snowboards, and wakeboards! He has quite a few sponsors in the pet business. Just go to YouTube and search for Tillman. He is very good on the snowboard!

Here's a charity match program that sounds pretty good from PetFood Express. My only concern is it appears that none of the money is going to San Mateo County--just SF, Contra Costa, Oakland and Golden Gate Shepherd rescue. If I get a chance, I will stop in and ask why?

And here is the answer:
We partner with shelters and rescues in the Peninsula throughout the year. In fact, we just did a matching My Mutt campaign for Peninsula Humane Society, where we presented them with a check for $5,000 last month.
For the current My Mutt campaign we are doing with KFOG, we chose 4 groups to collect donations for. Why did we pick those organizations? Since KFOG is headquartered in San Francisco, we decided to donate to the Friends of San Francisco Animal Care & Control.
Then, since deejay Dennis of KFOG just adopted a puppy from Golden State German Shepherd Rescue, that seemed like a good fit, too. Oakland Animal Services and Contra Costa Animal Services combined serve 24,000 animals a year with limited government budgets. The three government-run shelters provide the first line of hope for homeless animals in their region; from there, many pet rescue organizations step in to support the shelters and save pets who might otherwise be euthanized due to overcrowding and under-funding.
One of the great things about our My Mutt program is that anytime someone like you donates $250 or more to their favorite shelter or rescue, we offer you a My Mutt portrait of your pet! We hire a professional photographer to come and take photos of you pet, then you choose your favorite photo and we make it into a giant poster that will be displayed in the Pet Food Express of your choice.
We do the My Mutt program year-round! Here is a link for more info and how to take part: http://bit.ly/PFEMyMutt
(Good stuff...)
