The remnants of this typhoon were quite dramatic today. Holy Roller suggests
I just wanted to tell everyone what a great job Public Works did today keeping the streets clear of tree problems, and flooding. Not many of us notice the "little people" who make this City operate.
Great Work you people!
I agree with him or her. The City-controlled streets were in good shape even with a serious amount of rain. I wish I could say the same about the Caltrans-controlled El Camino Real
What I think is really frightening are the sidewalks on the "west side" of ECR.
I saw a mother and 6-7 year old riding bikes on the sidewalk.
It is narrow, not level, one wrong move, or misplaced step, someone will fall right in front of a car.

Holy Roller -- Hope you saw the nod to Burlingame's Public Works employees in John Horgan's most recent column. And, if you didn't here it is:
Thanks, again
We've said it before and we'll say it one more time: Most of us don't really appreciate the efforts of public works employees, utilities workers and emergency services personnel until something like Tuesday's wild, wet and windy weather strikes with a vengeance.
Despite the power of the storm, those folks were out there dutifully clearing tree branches, unclogging drains, redirecting traffic, repairing downed power lines and generally performing their jobs with their usual quiet and determined efficiency.
For our part, we'll just say thanks. Again.

Thanks Joanne,
I do not know much about how things get done in town.
But they do get done.
Anyone who has ever made a call to City Hall, Public Works, or the School District, "every single time" receives a resonce.
Living in the City of Burlingame is worth the price we pay.

Holy R -- you are correct. City employees, in all departments -- whether it's park and rec, library, city hall, public works l -- are always very polite and helpful.
I'm glad the street workers got a day or two of good weather after Tuesday's big storm. I hear more rain is on the way.
