There will be never before seen photos and stories that tell the tale of the evolution of an all volunteer fire department, where firefighters got paid per fire,to the department as it is today--one that uses the most modern, cutting edge equipment to fight fires. You will also have the opportunity to get a close look at the 1908 chemical wagon just before it is transported for permanent display inside the new Burlingame Hillsborough History Museum inside the historic Burlingame Train Station.
SAVE THE DATE! It all begins at 2pm at The Burlingame Fire Department, Station #34 on California Drive and Palm Avenue.
Sunday, May 17. Free and Open to the public. No reservations required.

I read in todays paper about a fire that happened last week on Dufferin Dr.,Burlingame.
A 2 Bedroom 1 bath houses'attic caught on fire. @ $60,000.00 in damages occurred.
Here is the RUB.
39 FIREMEN attended this event. THIRTYNINE!
Why in the world would 39 Firefighters have to put out a fire that was contained in 35 minutes?
4 firefighters per truck, rounded out..TEN TRUCKS...
Where did everyone park. Where did everyone stand?
Did they use the Burlingame Trollet(thats right, Trollet) to get the firefighters to the fire?
This is a ridiculous WASTE of money and manpower. I hope that people will start to realize how much tax dollar is wasted.
If this small incident is not enough to get you to vote no on the upcoming 1a&1b(I think, you know the TV ad where the fireman with bacon grease on his forehead asks for us to fund his retirement) you should have a medical check up.

What an outstanding presentation by Russ Cohen and Don Dornell taking us from 1908 to the present! The slide show was beautifully done with research by Jennifer Pfaff and Russ' running commentary. 60 people got an informative, fun view of firefighting in B'game and H'borough.
The "chemical wagon" is a little gem. I can't imagine it fighting any of the fires we heard about today at the old Potrero Hotel, the B'game hotel, Village Host, Chicken! Chicken! and such, but it must have been much better than a bucket brigade.
