SAN CARLOS, CA; December 19, 2007: Allied Waste Services of San Mateo County, the local company providing collection, recycling, transfer and disposal services to 93,000 residential and 10,000 commercial customers in 13 Peninsula communities, is now running its entire 225-heavy-duty truck fleet on cleaner-burning biodiesel fuel.
Allied's first biodiesel-powered trucks hit Peninsula streets last August, at which time the company estimated it would take approximately six months to convert its entire 225-truck fleet to biodiesel. But thanks to a reliable biodiesel producer--Energy Alternative Solutions of Watsonville--and excellent vehicle performance using EASI's high-quality, locally-produced B20 biodiesel blend, Allied has converted its full truck fleet nearly two months ahead of schedule.
The move to biodiesel makes Allied one of the largest users of B20 biodiesel in Northern California. By replacing some 80,000 gallons of ultra-low sulfur petroleum diesel each month with biodiesel, the company estimates environmental benefits equivalent to taking more than 315 cars off Peninsula roads annually.
