This just goes to show, as I have always felt the hallowed Council Chambers should be made available to the folks that live in Burlingame.
Teens are always looking for a place to play their music and this is a perfect spot. Easy parking and the neighbors are not too near.
Remove the nailed down chairs and the space could be used for small weddings, family gatherings and memorial services.
The well maintained lawn area around the building is a wonderful place for little ones to play and families to picnic.
I feel this is something we should think about and discuss.

I agree with you, Angela. It's pretty expensive real estate to only be used for a few hours per week. Just think, maybe it could be even be used to show movies!

Wow, great ideas, Angela and Joanne!

Angela, I am going to write a note to Terry and Jim asking if our Chambers could be used more frequently for community events and maybe if enough people ask, it could happen!

Joanne that would be a perfect site for movies.
Fiona maybe we should all let Terry and Jim know how we feel.

Our city managers says it may be possible to make the council chambers available for more public programs, as long as they are nonpolitical. We have had problems in the past with outside parties readjusting the sound system so that it doesn't work well when during city meetings. In one case, it took several months to readjust the sound.
Installing removable chairs and putting in better audiovisual equipment is a big project that would require funds the city doesn't have right now.
