I was walking down Burlingame Ave this week. I stopped at the corner of Burlingame and Primrose and there was a chirpping and beeping coming from the traffic signals. It was loud and distrubing. Why is this needed? Burlingame Ave is becoming an unbecoming place to shop with high parking fees, congestion and now beeping and chirping at the traffic signals. I could hear it all the way down to Copenhagan Bakery.
Are you trying to make Burlingame Ave an unpleasant experience?
I can't imagine the merchants near the corner want to hear this noise continuously.

Maybe that is some kind of new code for blind people? I have no idea, actually, but have heard these in other cities.

I heard it in front of Peet's while on my lunch hour yesterday. My co-workers thought it was a car alarm. I would think it would diminish the dining experience up at Towles. Later, ran in to Meg and Maureen who said it is very intrusive.
These signals are also now at the corner of Park and Howard. Can't the volumn be adjusted?

You can blame the state for these annoying sounds. It is an ADA requirement to help the blind..perhaps by making them deaf too. Keep voting in the incumbents and you will get more of the same from these do gooders who like to spend OPM. Other People's Money.

You people must have pretty boring lives if this small convenience for the visually impaired annoys you and you actually have time to blog about it!

Isn't it great Mathilda ... we can blog about small annoyances, large annoyances and people with boring lives can blog about other people who have boring lives. Chirp chirp!

While they are fine tuning (literally) the chirps, I hope they can give us poor, wobbly and boring souls a few more seconds on their timers in order to make it from one side to another.
