The search is over, the last golden ticket was found and the Broadway area in Burlingame finally has a bakery applying to move into the neighborhood-serving street. Recently the City Council allowed for five new restaurants in the Broadway area. The bakery, Chocolate Mousse Bakery, decided to give Burlingame a call after Ross Bruce, president of the Broadway Business Improvement District, put out a plea for some sweet treats on the street. When Bruce heard the news, he was excited to say the least. We're doing back flips and dancing in the streets over here,? he said. Dana and Joe Kern own the Chocolate Mousse Bakery in San Carlos. The Burlingame location would receive fresh deliveries daily of the signature mousse cakes and New York-style boil bagels. We'll have cable and there will probably be people there in the morning. There isn't a bagel and cream cheese place there either so we'll kind of fit two needs,? said Dana Kern. Councilwoman Ann Keighran said it seems like just the sort of restaurant the people of Burlingame want. Keighran said she asked for the surveys of the area to see what the community wanted and the community wanted a bakery. It will be a wonderful addition to the Broadway area,? she said. Other applications for food establishments on the street include a family-style grill, an upscale Italian restaurant, a diner and a raw food restaurant. The bakery is applying to fill a slot in the 1199 Broadway building where the diner will also be located. There is no date set for when the Planning Commission will look over the plans at a public meeting, but the application was submitted.
Now that restaurants were brought in, Bruce said it would be nice to see any new vacancies filled with unique boutiques or retail stores.

This is very exciting news for that street. It will help contribute to a well-rounded retail district.
