I'd say the Caltrain directors are one caboose shy of a trainload.
*****
The notion of offering train service when there are very few passengers and turning your back on several hundred paying customers is a sad commentary on "public transit" in the Bay Area.
*****
I wonder what the cost of operating a shuttle bus will amount to?
*****
Caltrain, telling one and all how short of funds it is, sent out a lovely brochure to those who reside in some proximity to its train tracks. I received a lovely magnet to remind me of the phone number should I notice someone exhibiting suicidal tendencies who might hurl themselves in front of an on-coming train.
Apparently I do not possess sufficient intelligence to automatically respond to such a situation and call the police should I notice this. (A published report pegged the cost of this mailer at $15,000.)
*****
Who do I call regarding Caltrain's suicidal operational tendencies?

More wasted money. Thanks for all this info, Gerald.

You can contact:

Mike Nevin, Chair

San Carlos, CA 94070-1306PH:(800) 660-4287 or forward your concerns electronically at:

Mr. Nevin is the same individual who gave us the failed BART line and, in a boondoggle coming soon to a town near you, the future ferry service that will further bankrupt county and regional transit. So good luck. Let us all know if yoiu get an answer, or better yet, post the answer here.

Sean

What does "the failed BART line" mean?

politicalblunder

Failed maening at 50% projected capacity or less and costing San Mateo County taxpayers approximately $10 million this year alone as our local transit district board agreed to put the county on the hook for all operating losses for the BART extension in perpetuity. That's why it's a failed line. But it does actually run.
