Thanks to Burlingame groupThanks Liz for recognizing how everyone can work together when the Burlingame City Council would not.
I recently learned that Citizens for a Better Burlingame (CBB) has raised $27,000 for Burlingame Elementary School Crossing Guards. You may recall that the Burlingame City Council (with the exception of Cathy Baylock and Terri Nagel, to whom I remain very grateful for their support throughout the entire Crossing Guard debacle) could not find it in their hearts and consciences to continue funding this important city service, and it therefore fell to the Burlingame School District.
Safeway generously stepped forward with a $32,000 donation, and now thanks to the CBB, the Burlingame School District is looking at $4,000 rather than $32,000 to help ensure the safety of our children. On behalf of the Washington Elementary School PTA, parents in our community and my own three children, I would like to thank the CBB for all their efforts in helping us save our crossing guards this year.
Their support of this very important issue has certainly made an impact on us as we travel safely to and from school every day. Though we were unable to gain support of all of the City Council members, it is nice to know that we have the support of the community. Too bad ALL the City Council members do not vote with their conscience and in support of their constituents.
Thank you again CBB, Burlingame School District and Safeway for all your support.
