In all the discussion about Mike Nevin and is unethical appointment to the SamTrans Board, we forget that he was the only one responsible for the way it was done.
Beside the supervisors on the SamTrans Board there are 3 city councilmenbers who went along with the scheme.
They are Mike Guingona of Daly City, Marc Hershman of Millbrae and James Hartnett of Redwood City.
They must bare some of the blame for what happened.
Each of them needs to be asked why they went along with appointment. They need to be asked how it was originally discussed. After all there was no real discussion at the Samtrans board meeting. And to discuss it outside the meeting is a violation of the Brown Act.
So just how did all of them, all at the same time, all come to the same conclusion all at the same time?
Did some or all of them discuss Nevin's appointment outside the meeting? Weren't they aware that this was a violation of the law?
We all know Daly City Councilmember Guingona sold his vote. But how do Councilmembers Harnett and Hershman explain selling out the areas they represent and vote to give a 4th vote on the SamTrans board?
What where they promised in exchange for their votes
Each of these councilmembers is appointed by the San Mateo City Selection committee. How do they explain to the other city leaders their vote to give one city a more votes at the expensive of the other cities in the county.
I think we would all be interested in their response.
