Sounds like a wonderful idea but we should use Burlingame Contractors and
Burlingame suppliers.

Local is the best, except when it isn't! When we had our new oven and dishwasher (both purchased in Burlingame) installed by local contractors, we had lots of problems. Neither was done correctly and it was very expensive. My husband ended up re-doing everything himself! The dishwasher was actually falling out of the space under the countertop! Good thing we didn't have an earthquake.
So, given the choice, I'd go with a reputable service that I could count on, even if they are not from here. At a certain point, it defeats the purpose to support poor work.

Gee...I didn't know the Voice was putting up free ads.

The editorial board of the Burlingame Voice is reviewing our Terms of Use and will probably revise them to exclude commercial advertising. Your thoughts on how to exclude blatent commercial ads versus reviews about restaurants, shops would be appreciated.

Most bloggers who review a restaurant or a great Burlingame business do not receive any monetary gain from their review. Perhaps the "reviewers" want to encourage us all to shop/dine Burlingame and/or just share a good eating or shopping experience in Burlingame.
This is obviously blatantly different from an out-of-town business selling a kitchen sink. Big difference!

Editor, can't those that appear to be blatant advertisers be contacted and deleted? We should continue to support Burlingame business. If the services/products/suppliers are inferior, I'm sure the locals would like to know that in a contructive way. They at least deserve the option to tell you "we can't beat that". But let's go Burlingame first!

The bulletin board of Chowhounds routinely expunges/deletes any postings which resemble a blatant "advertisement"...the original posting here sure seems as such, doesn't it? I'd vote to delete it.

The point of the post was to assist residents who are unable to find a contractor to install their appliances. The stores in burlingame do not install and residents have complained for the inconvience

Oh please mr. kitchen remodel!...i had someone local (burlingame) install 3 kitchen appliances in my old home. I cannot believe that you think people cannot find contractors to do that type of work locally. Your posting was a blatant ad on our website and was very self serving. The San Mateo Times, Burlingame Daily News and San Mateo Journal would be more than happy to run an advertisement for you.

I think if your point was to assist with installation, you would have mentioned that in your first line. However, you choose surcharges and lack of service. Anyhow, I've had great experiences with the Burlingame appliance stores. Good luck to you and your business.
