At her memorial service on August 7, the family of Gloria Barton would like to display photos of Gloria including pictures from both her personal and public life.
Sons Derek, Jack and Greg Barton are helping their dad John Barton, Gloria's husband of 54 years, gather photographic mementos of Burlingame's former three-time mayor. They are hopeful that anyone in the community with photographs of this grand lady will contact them as soon as possible so they can make enlargements in time to exhibit them at St. Paul's Episcopal Church where the service in her memory will take place starting at 1 p.m. on the 7th.
If you have a photo you think would evoke a special memory of Glo, please email [email protected] and describe what you have.
Also, if you have a special memory of Gloria, please consider sharing it here as an add to this post. I know the family would appreciate your recollections for their private memory book. Thanks very much for your consideration.

Ro, did you write the beautiful editorial to Gloria in today's Daily Journal? It really is a lovely tribute to her and so true.

Fiona ...
That was a lovely tribute to Gloria in today's Daily Journal. It wasn't my work, however. We have Jon Mays, I believe, to thank for this wonderful piece about Glo.
I hope you and everyone else saw the article in today's San Mateo County Times. .
I believe we can expect even more coverage later this week in both the San Francisco Examiner and the San Francisco Chronicle.
If anything else has run, please let me know as Gloria's family is collecting all these stories and they live out of the area. Thanks.

There are people, like myself, who would like to write a card to her family, but have no contact information. I wonder if there is an address or address of a relative, they'd be willing to give out?

Gloria's son Derek said his father (John Barton) would enjoy hearing from people at the family home at 734 Winchester Drive, Burlingame.
I spoke with Jon Mays today and he is, indeed, the author of the lovely editorial about Gloria in the Daily Journal. He said he thought she was such an exemplary example of community involvement that she deserved special mention.

Jon's editorial was wonderful. Today's Independent had a good article as well. I miss her already; can you imagine what she would have to say about changing the one year rule?!
