The forum, to be held on June 2, 2004 in the Lane Room of the main public library, will feature three guest speakers: John King, The San Francisco Chronicle's urban design writer; Martin Dreiling, president of CSS Associates Architecture in Burlingame; and Tom Ford, senior associate with Design, Community & Environment in Berkeley. They will discuss their views on good downtown shopping-area design, planning and requirements for a vibrant pedestrian-friendly downtown shopping area.
The event begins at 6:30 p.m. and will end at 8:45 p.m.

Did you invite the very-silent Janney group? They supposedly call themselves a "smart growth" group. Perhaps blogger Carole could invite them and we could hear what their views are on "smart growth"

Unfortunately, as I understand it Ms. Janney is and will be out of the country on June 2nd. Hopefully some of the Planning Commission members and Council Members will take advantage of this opportunityand attend the meeting.
This is an open meeting, so hopefully some of Ms. Janney's group will attend.
My hat off to all of those individuals, who arranged this meeting. This is quite a prestigeous group of individuals, who possess a wealth of knowledge and should provide some very helpful insight.
Looking forward to hear what they have to say.
