The Concerned Residents of Burlingame (CRB) are going to be installing banners up and down Trousdale Drive in opposition to the proposed routing of the Jefferson-Martin Power Lines down the center of Trousdale Drive. The first banner will be installed at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 25th at 2100 Trousdale Drive.
There has been a lot of press concerning the proposed Jefferson-Martin Transmission Line Project. This is a project that will drastically change the lives of the residents along its route, and specifically those living along Trousdale Drive in Burlingame. We need to stand by them and show that we care about what happens in Burlingame.
The residents that live along Trousdale are looking for support in their fight against PG&E and the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC). The proposed routing of the 230 Kilovolt (kV) lines underground down Trousdale Drive is one of the most contested issues facing the City in years.
The CPUC is going to have two meeting in December. One on December 8th at the San Mateo City Hall starting at 7:00 p.m., and one on December 9th at the San Bruno Recreation Center. Public comment will be taken at both of these meetings.

There is a plan to bus people from the Burlingame Plaza on both nights. To help pay for the bus, there is a $10.00 charge to take the bus. The meeting place for the bus is in the northern section of the Burlingame Plaza parking lot. The bus will be leaving promptly at 6:15 p.m. The bus will bring everyone back to the parking lot after the meeting.

To get a feel for what is at stake, let's look at the Electro Magnetic Field levels we are talking about. At the center of Trousdale Drive the levels will be 70 to 90 MG, with 15 MG at the sidewalks. The federal government suggests that at 3MG there is a cancer risk.
This is not only the residents of Trousdale Drives problem, it is yet another example of the government not listening to the citizens, or at least giving their input much weight. We need to help support the residents, and speak out against this issue.

The 280 CCC is working furiously to compell the judge in this case to approve an alternate route whereby the line would not be routed down trousdale. In our testimony we explored the ramifications for Trousdale residents and used our hired consultants and legal team to advocate on Trousdale resident's behalf. Our position is that 230kV lines have no place near schools and residences! However, we need more support from residents and haven't been able to persuade the CRB -- which has apparently collected funds -- to contribute financially to the work we have been doing over the last year.
