Chief Jack Van Etten retired yesterday after 36 years with the Burlingame Police Department. A Burlingame resident, the Chief rose through the ranks in B'game and was known for his approachable demeanor and his straight-arrow lawman outlook. The Daily Journal has an article about his retirement and the appointment of Capt. Ed Woods as the acting chief. Best wishes, Jack and welcome, Ed.
Here's Chief Van Etten at his last City Council meeting.
The Burlingame Police Department/Burlingame City Hall, have been unable to come up with a contract regarding wages and benefits for @two years.
The "rank and file"are glad to see a change in management. JVE.
Nevertheless, "The City of Burlingame" police department employees are very unhappy.
I think this may be the most under-reported news story on the Pennisula.
As well as the firing/tranfer of City of Burlingame 911 dispatchers.
Lots of drama.

about time he retired. he was never able to live up to the standards set by previous Burlingame police chiefs. there has been little law and oerder under his watch.
