Dine Burlingame - A Murder Mystery Dinner at the Broadway Grill

There will be the first Murder Mystery Dinner at The Broadway Grill on Wednesday, March 12 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tickets - $29.00 per person (does not include dinner) Reservations - (650) 343-9333. The "Detective's Club" written by well-known comedian Danny Williams is a humorous murder mystery dinner where the action happens during a stand up reception and sit-down dinner. Mingle with the characters during the reception and ask them questions during dinner. Guests will have a multitude of clues and each team will complete a solution card before dessert.

I guess business' deal with ethics as much as we all have to at times.
I am refering to the great community that Ill Picolo has developed over the years.
The owner has always been an advocate for a place to sit down, relax, and get to know your neighbors ; what they think about.
The theater at Picollo has been great. Ill Picollo started the "regentrifacation" of Broadway and I think he(Dave) should be recognized for it.
I have been to the Broadway Grill twice. The first was @ X-Mas. Reservations for 5. The MD was very upset that there were 5, and put us in a booth where 3 people sat on on side, and two on the other. We were seperated by a curtain drawn between our groups sitting on the same bench 6 inchs apart.
The waiters were not able to deliver our food because they had to reach over 2 people, to get to the third(About 5-6') so they had to stand behind us to lower the food over our heads to our place setting.
This resteraunt should be called Barnum Balieys Grill.
Especially with the free breakfast offered weekly, Don Bleu; a radio host from the 1950's , and now stealing any thing they can to try to take from the people who put in the heart and soul to develope their dream, and this niche at Broadway.
The owner of the "Grill" should have stayed in the baseball card trading business.

I welcome any Burlingame restaurant that wants to do things differently, ie. serve food with added bonuses like motown on Mondays, jazz, theatre, etc.

I agree with you about Il Piccolo - it is a fantastic place plus David also welcomes things differently too - ie poetry readings, musical groups and radio dramas as an added bonus to a latte.

The Broadway Grill was very generous to host a breakfast for Ann's Broadway clean up crew and they also hosted a celebration after the first night of the variety show with complimentary food and drinks. In addition after one of the variety show performances, the Broadway Grill mike was open to anyone who wanted to sing (from the show or otherwise) and it was a wonderful evening on Broadway. True community spirit!

Dave at il Picolo is a very nice man and has a lovely business. He has been friends of my husband and I for many years.
Holy Roller, I will give you the benefit of the doubt and not say that you are lying - only say you are mistaken about the fact that the waiter had to give you the food over the 6 foot glass divider that separated the back of the booth from where you where sitting. If you were sitting three on one side of the table and two on the other then the waiter would have served you from the end which would have been appropriate. Although you may have been tight in the booth you would not have been separated by the curtain which by the way is completely removable by simply lifting it off. That is a booth for 8 to 10 people so I doubt they would have put your 5 in the entire booth and separated you by the curtain. Now to go on,
The free breakfast you speak of is there to promote different events. Some of those "Barman and Bailey" as you call them events are "Toys for Tots" where 1,000 toys were procured between the Broadway Grill and the owners other restaurant, a Blood Drive, a Breast Cancer Fund Raiser for a local woman, and other such events. Besides these wonderful giving things the owner and General Manager are ALWAYS GIVING whenever asked. Here is just a partial list of some of the local organizations who have benefited by their generosity: The Lions Club received a raffle price worth hundreds, the Burlingame High School Band - hundreds, the Burlingame High School Teachers - pastries in their lounge each week, the Taste of The Town - besides going there with a booth they donated a prize, the Grill not only had 5 people in the Centennial Variety show but they donated hundreds of dollars worth of equipment without a single reimbursement receipt and donated food to the cast party AND Fiona is correct they donated everything to a party at the Grill after one of the nights performances with appetizers, and free beverages - we sang and had a real warm family-like time it was amazing, they gave to the Peninsula Hospital Fund, they are always giving and giving and giving. HOW DARE YOU ACCUSE THEM OF STEALING ANYTHING FROM ANYONE? If another business is suffering from the success of the Broadway Grill that is too bad. They need to step up. The Broadway Grill is offering something that is needed in this town. I don't know where you think the heart and soul is but I think it's at the Broadway Grill. Jealousy is a very dangerous thing. It makes good people do bad things. Don't step into it's shoes. Instead go to the Broadway Grill on a Monday night. And sing and dance and have fun. Then on Tuesday go to Il Picolo. Then on Wednesday go to Nuts for Candy and get Razzles. Then on Thursday go to Prestons for ice cream. See there are many day of the week. We can love all of Broadway and still be nice kind people who don't hate anyone. Then next week we can go to Copenhagen's on Burlingame Ave because they have great Chinese Chicken Salad.
